mahalkita.ph (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a dating platform built for Filipinos worldwide. We are operated from Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines. You may reach us at contact@mahalkita.ph.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.

Account & Profile Data

• ·First name, birthdate, gender identity, sexual preference
• ·Location (region, city, country; whether you are in the Philippines or abroad)
• ·Relationship goals, dialect(s) spoken, value tags, dealbreakers
• ·Bio, profile photos, prompt answers
• ·Puso compatibility answers and importance ratings

Verification Data

• ·Selfie and government-issued ID photo (stored privately, never shown to other users)

Usage & Technical Data

• ·IP address, browser type, device type
• ·Pages visited, features used, session timestamps
• ·Messages sent and received within the platform

• ·To create and manage your account
• ·To show you compatible profiles and enable matching
• ·To deliver in-app messaging between matched users
• ·To verify your identity and protect the community from fake accounts
• ·To enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
• ·To send transactional emails (e.g., email verification, match notifications)
• ·To improve our platform through aggregated, anonymized analytics
• ·To comply with applicable Philippine law

Our lawful basis for processing is your consent (given when you create an account) and our legitimate interest in operating a safe dating platform.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as follows:

• ·With other users — your public profile (name, photos, bio, prompts, location city) is visible to users you are shown to. Your email address is never shared.
• ·Supabase (Ireland / USA) — our database and authentication provider. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
• ·Vercel (USA) — our hosting provider. They process request data as part of serving our web application.
• ·Government authorities — if required by Philippine law, court order, or to prevent fraud or harm.

When data is transferred outside the Philippines, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with NPC guidelines on cross-border data transfers.

• ·Active accounts: data is retained for the duration of your account.
• ·Deleted accounts: personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion, except where retention is required by law.
• ·Verification documents: deleted within 14 days of review completion.
• ·Messages: retained as long as the match exists; deleted when either party deletes their account.

As a data subject, you have the following rights:

• ·Right to be informed — you have the right to know how your data is collected and used (this policy).
• ·Right to access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• ·Right to rectification — you may correct inaccurate or incomplete data via your profile settings.
• ·Right to erasure — you may request deletion of your account and personal data.
• ·Right to data portability — you may request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
• ·Right to object — you may object to processing based on legitimate interest.
• ·Right to damages — you have the right to be indemnified for damages resulting from inaccurate, incomplete, false, unlawfully obtained, or unauthorized use of your personal data.

We use strictly necessary cookies and session tokens to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You may clear cookies at any time through your browser settings; doing so will log you out.

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures: HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, encrypted storage, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no system is completely secure — please protect your account with a strong, unique password.

mahalkita.ph is strictly for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please report it to contact@mahalkita.ph and we will promptly delete the account.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via an in-app notice. Continued use of mahalkita.ph after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
